Position Description

Primary Function

-Lead SEO data tracking and reporting processes to identify performance trend and key opportunity to improvement in our organic search program

-Develop and execute SEO strategies and tactics to drive organic search traffic, revenue, and acquisition for Grainger branded websites.

-Research, monitor and analyze SEO performance and identify improvement opportunities

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

-Maintain weekly, monthly and ad-hoc SEO reports and dashboards to track business KPIs and other SEO specific metrics, such as organic search ranking, crawling and indexing status, page engagement, and competitor analysis

-Perform keyword research and data analysis to provide recommendations on new content creation

-Work with content marketing team on content updates for improved audience based keyword targeting

-Collaborate with business partners to ensure SEO best practices for architecture, content and linking are met

-Identify and apply search insights and behaviors for different personas of our targeted customers

-Provide copy editing that will increase search visibility and align with Grainger brand

-Lead projects to optimize site/page structure, crawling, indexing and key page elements and tags

-Conduct content audit and analysis to identify opportunities to improve architecture and content development

-Lead link building opportunities with relevant and authoritative domains

-Research and test new ideas, trends, and technologies within SEO, Content Marketing, Social and other Digital Marketing channels

-Create and implement cross channel/functional projects to achieve goals on the company growth map, especially with PPC, Display, and Social Media channels

-Develop and deliver SEO training sessions to educate organization on the capabilities, uses and benefits of SEO

Position Requirements:

Preferred Education & Experience

-3-5 years experience in SEO

-Solid understanding of SEO best practices, historical trends and industry developments, including international and mobile SEO.

-Strong knowledge with website analysis using a variety of analytics tools (Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Coremetrics, etc.)

-Experience in keyword research and landing page evaluation process

-Working knowledge with SEO technology tools (seoClarity, Brightedge, Moz, SEMrush, Majestic, Screamingfrog, Google Adwords Keyword Planner, etc.)

-Experience working with SEO agencies and/or SEO platform partners

-Self-motivated

-Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

-Experience with both organic and paid search program is highly preferred

-Strong relationship building and influencing skills

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-Ability to work successfully with cross-functional teams & brands, handling multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines

-Project management and time management skills are essential

-Familiarity with Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools

-Good understanding of HTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript to determine the SEO status and effectiveness

-High-level proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

-BS degree required
